Berard Martel Architects were delighted to attend a celebration of major construction milestone for RiverWalk at Loon Mountain.
A tradition originating in Scandinavia around 700 AD, the last structural beam to be placed is painted white and signed by people critical to the project. A tree is placed on the beam which signifies construction has reached the sky without injury, bestowing good fortune on the future inhabitants. The beam will be placed on top of the large cupola, shown below.
